Harsco recognizes that the metals industry environment is hazardous, but with the right equipment, training and systems these risks can be well controlled.
Our long-term approach to customer relationships is underpinned by our belief that safety is paramount, and that environmentally sustainable practices help protect the environment for future generations.
Our vision is to eliminate all incidents from Harsco’s business activities. Our aim is to instill the value of zero harm to people and the environment so that people can enjoy life at work, home and play.
We will achieve this vision by conducting all business activities in a manner that protects the safety and health of our employees, contractors, suppliers, customers and the public. We are committed to providing a safe work environment where the only acceptable number of injuries is zero. We expect our employees to work proactively to eliminate all incidents.
Harsco operates on the principles that:
- All occupational injuries and illnesses are preventable
- Safety is everyone's responsibility
- Operating exposures can be reasonably safeguarded
- Safety comes before cost or production
- Preventing injuries and accidents contributes to business success
The Harsco-wide EH&S Framework is the “Process” component in our strategic foundational model of the 3 P’s (People, Process, Performance) to achieve our vision of Zero Harm. So, with a goal to protect people and the environment from harm we designed the framework with a foundational focus on incident prevention through risk reduction. As a result, often times to reduce risk, we go above and beyond regulatory compliance.
