Harsco Metals & Minerals

Norway was the first country where Harsco marketed slag as a feed material for rockwool insulation. This application has now been successfully deployed to Laverton, in Australia.

After positive results from trials on lump and fines materials from Laverton, the Harsco Metals site is now supplying slag to CSR Asia, a manufacturer of building materials based in Australia but with operations throughout the region. Slag is used as a raw material blended with dolerite, coke, and anorthosite to make rockwool insulation. Harsco Metals are investigating other potential countries within the Asian market.
